Threat Intelligence Brief
CISA KEV Alert: Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC) and Security Cloud Control (SCC) Firewall Management (CVE-2026-20079) Actively Exploited in the Wild
Source: nvd.nist.gov
Threat Risk: Critical
Victim: Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC) and Security Cloud Control (SCC) Firewall Management Deployments
Incident: CISA added CVE-2026-20079 (Cisco Firewall Management Center Authentication Bypass Using an Alternate Path or Channel Vulnerability) to Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.
Impact: Active in-the-wild exploitation resulting in remote code execution, authentication bypass, or data exposure.
Attacker: Unidentified Cyber Threat Actors
Analysis: Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC) Software and Cisco Security Cloud Control (SCC) Firewall Management contain an authentication Bypass using an alternate path or channel vulnerability that could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to bypass authentication and execute script files on an affected device to obtain root access to the underlying operating system.
Recommendations: Apply mitigations in accordance with vendor instructions, ensuring compliance with CISA’s BOD 26-04 Prioritizing Security Updates Based on Risk (see URL in Notes) guidance and CISA’s “Forensics Triage Requirements” (see URL in Notes). Follow applicable BOD 26-04 guidance for cloud services or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable. Stakeholders are responsible for evaluating each asset’s internet exposure and ensuring adherence to BOD 26-04 patching guidelines.; Audit exposed interfaces and verify patching before federal deadlines.
